Rasilimali SACCO* Society Ltd was registered on the 14th of April 2021 under the certificate of registration number CS/25944. It exists to improve the livelihoods of pastoralist and marginalized communities, such as youth and women.The SACCO aims to solve the absence of financial institutions adapted to pastoralists’ socio-economic conditions in Kenya. Over the past years, we engaged with pastoralist communities (via IMPACT field trips and organized events) and we realized that they do not save or invest much. While their low saving culture helps to explain this observation, lack of saving and credit opportunities offered to pastoralists play a significant role in limiting their access to finance.
MALI OLE KAUNGA, FounderRecognizing the need to make finance accessible to pastoralist communities, Rasilimali SACCO was registered to empower them through savings mobilization and provision of services targeted and tailored to their unique individual and communal socio-economic needs. This is what distinguishes this Sacco from other financial organizations that also serve marginalized groups but do not offer specific products that best suit pastoralists.

Rasilimali Sacco wants to design a product to facilitate pastrolist land ownership.While the price of land plots is high and appreciating, pastralist income is relatively low. As such , Rasilimali will provide pastralist with lump-sum payments that covers all the cost associated with land acuirement, which will be reimbursed progressively as pastralist generate revenue
Rasilimali sacco respects the indigenouse way of life and in the matter its products also focus on uses of natural resources to improve the local economies. Nature based enterprises like honey production, resins, gums and herbl medicine extraction, are supported by Rasilimalisacco through provision of loan products that ensures the extraction is envirlnmentally friendly and sustainable .
